The Bare Essentials.

Conspicuously, they all arrive at the same time.

Moving to a new city and sharing a house with a bunch of people from the internet you've never met before certainly sounds like a good idea, but it can prove to be rough.

It never helps if the combined funds of the group can barely afford the ugliest house in town, and leaves very little left for furnishing.

Either disgusted by the home, his new roommates, or most likely both, Zara immediately calls for a cab and sets off to meet his new employers. He was the only of the group that though ahead enough to actually have a job waiting for him at the local science lab before the move.

The housemates all seem to agree with Zara's line of thought. As much as they appreciated the candles scattered around for meager sources of light, they would vastly prefer some new toys. A television would be nice, more chairs, better lights, money for food didn't hurt one bit, either.
So, the group all set out on their own, completely forgetting even the most basic social graces in that not one of them had said a word to each other in person, yet. That would have to wait, though, as the job search began.
